Dan McConnell is the principal consultant at Geomarine Resources. Dan built the marine site characterization consulting business for AOA Geophysics, became one of the principal shareholders and was instrumental in the sale of AOA Geophysics to Fugro in 2011, where he facilitated the integration of the AOA-developed multibeam-aided geochemistry methodologies for frontier oil and gas exploration with Fugro's marine survey capabilities and fleet. At Fugro, he managed the US marine consulting business and later developed geochemistry surveys in the Asia Pacific region and scientific drilling and marine minerals projects on a global basis.
Known for influential work in gas hydrates- Dan was a key member of the site selection, site permitting, and science party for the 2009 landmark Chevron-US Department of Energy Gulf of Mexico Gas Hydrate JIP that confirmed thick deeply buried gas hydrate bearing sands in the Gulf of Mexico.
Dan's most recent efforts are in marine minerals, as lead geologist for several marine mineral resource campaigns including the important 2018 NORI D Campaign 3 AUV and resource survey for manganese nodules.
